The rodeo has a long history in Pagosa Springs and was named after Red Ryder, who was the feature cowboy character in the popular long-running western comic strip created by Stephen Slesinger and artist Fred Harman. It will be the 73rd Annual Red Ryder Roundup Rodeo! You’ll see real, authentic cowboys and cowgirls competing in a variety of events in this sanctioned rodeo series. The 75th annual Red Ryder Roundup Rodeos are set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The July 4 rodeo will be at 2 p.m., with the July 3 and July 5 rodeos being at 6 p.m. The highlight of 4th of July Festivities in Pagosa Springs! Join us on July 4, at 10:00 AM in downtown Pagosa. The parade starts at Spring St and Hot Springs Blvd. The parade heads south on Hot Springs Blvd. It continues west on Apache St and then south on 5th St. Due to ongoing road construction on U.S. 160, Town Council has decided to forgo the traditional 4th of July Parade this year.
