On July 2nd, 1996, an extraterrestrial alien mothership arrives in the orbit of the Earth and deploys multiple saucers, each fifteen-miles wide that take positions over some of Earth's major cities. Overall I found Independence day to be an enjoyable enough film with good acting from the main cast and a family friendly appeal. With a run time of 145 minutes I think it could have trimmed a half an hour perhaps without losing any major plot points.
