Pioneer Day The main specifically Mormon holiday is Pioneer Day, celebrated on July 24 of each year. Mormons don't really have any ''special'' celebrations that some other religions do. They have the same celebrations that most people do like the 4th of July, Easter, Christmas, birthdays, etc. When the Fourth of July falls on a Sunday, Mormons usually spread the celebration over two days. They spend Saturday doing traditional Fourth of July things - having barbeque's, parades, parties For example, in the United States, LDS members (Mormons) celebrate Independence Day on 4 July and in Canada they observe Canada Day on 1 July. Mormons, like many people, also observe birthdays and wedding anniversaries as special days to celebrate with family and friends. July 4 is when Americans traditionally celebrate Independence Day (even though the correct date is July 2, when the Second Continental Congress voted to approve independence from Britain). The holiday has become synonymous with BBQs and fireworks, but the event we celebrate is too meaningful to let pass by without something more memorable.
