Ever since 1915, the Maxwelton 4th of July has been an annual tradition on south Whidbey Island. It’s a low key but fun affair with lots of family entrants, tail wagging dogs, light costumes, old cars, and music. The parade typically begins at the intersection of Maxwelton and Swede Hill roads and proceeds down Maxwelton Road, ending at Dave Mackie Park, where food and commemorative buttons are available for purchase and classic family games can be played in the park. Walking down to the Parade route is encouraged though it is a long walk downhill. For over 100 years, the Maxwelton beach community has sponsored a festive parade for the 4th of July. The parade is at noon on July 4th. Shuttle service will be available from The Little Brown Church on Maxwelton Road. Arrive early for best observation seating. Bring your own chairs.
